The blog that I most connected with was called Teaching with Web 2.0 should be Taught and can be found at http://billgx.edublogs.org/2008/04/19/teaching-with-web-20-should-be-taught/

I just touched on this in my discussion question for this week, but over the past year, I have taken several courses though Wilkes and have realized how many tools I have been missing out on.  I teach several computer classes, but the kids seem to know more about computers than I do and I consider that to be a problem.  The blog goes into detail about kids knowing more than teachers because the students have always had it around them.

The blog also touches on the fact that teachers don’t know how to use the technology that is out there.  The main reasons for this are not enough training or not enough time.  This has been a problem for me and I’m trying to figure out how to fix it.  The blog mentions that today’s kids grow up with the technology while the adults have not.  I was in fourth grade when I first saw a computer, so I’ve been around it for most of my life, and I still have a hard time keeping up.  Technology is not that hard for me to learn, but I just have a hard time finding the time to learn.

I used to be happy about how much technology experience I had and how much I was keeping up with everything.  Then real life and work and marriage took over and technology kept going without me!  I’ve recently been trying to get back into technology and have begun using these tools in the classroom or have plans to use them in projects going on next month.

Another point in the blog is that there are teachers who are entering the profession without any technology education or training.  I can relate because this is going on in my school and I’m trying to help teachers learn new Web 2.0 tools through my building technology leader position.
