Creativity Outside the Classroom

One way that I share information and receive data from others is through this website http://familyconsumersciences.com/2010/04/introduction-to-vegetables/ . This website is designed for Family and Consumer Science teachers. On this website teachers from all over the United States can upload lesson plans, activities and assessments.

Currently, I am teaching a unit on vegetables. Since there are not as many resources for Family and Consumer Science teachers, like some subjects, I often need to look at other resources that are not typically for teachers. Most teachers use Study Island or Discovery Education. However, I find websites like the one listed above very helpful. Any teacher can post onto the website or print off other peoples ideas. I used this website today when I was trying to think of some creative ways to teach students about vegetables. I found one high school teachers lesson plan and decided I am going to do some of the same cooking labs she did. She suggested some helpful hints to remember, such as having students taste different types of vegetables using different cooking methods.

I think it is really fun seeing all the different ways we can all share information. This is just one resource that I enjoy using to share information.
